Needs Assessment Process
We begin our process by identifying the specific needs of your organization:

  • Are you challenged with retaining your key people?
  • Do you wonder if your staff truly understands the mission of your company?
  • Are you in need of increased sales and/or higher customer satisfaction?
  • Do you know that your staff needs professional development, but you can't put your finger on exactly what skills they're missing?

These are just a few of the issues we will discuss with you regarding the "people aspect" of achieving your goals. And while taking care of immediate needs is important, it is also critical to determine if there are deeper issues, with potential long-term effects, in need of attention. We will help you assess and analyze your organization to determine where changes need to be made and what those specific changes should be. Some of the areas we typically cover include:

  • Defining and living your mission, vision, and values (above and beyond a plaque with your mission statement)
  • Attracting and retaining a strong team
  • Developing a profile of a company's ideal employee and ideal customer
  • Articulating your company's culture
  • Blending the cultures of merged organizations
  • Knowing what to expect in the face of change, and how the company tends to act under stress

Once these areas are understood, we will connect you with professionals who are best suited to implement any desired changes within your company, or work with your internal resources to ensure that these issues receive the attention they need in order for your company to move in the right direction.

The Assessment Process
To get an overall understanding of your culture, we utilize the Companies Are People, Too (CAP2) survey. Delivered on-line, this 84 question, multiple-choice survey is taken by an organization's decision makers, influencers, and opinion leaders. Many organizations ask their entire staff to participate. Others also ask key customers to verify the organization's perceptions by taking the customer version of the survey.

This assessment focuses on your overall company culture, and seeks to identify whether a company's management, staff, and daily practices are in line with their core ideology. After the designated participants complete the assessment, Total Potential will analyze the results and present a profile of the organization, which includes:

  • Characteristic strengths and weaknesses
  • Values
  • Work environment
  • Ideal employees and customers
  • Behavior under stress
  • Managing change

Once we understand who your organization is and what it stands for, we can create processes and systems to help you develop and realize the potential of your current and future employees.

Employee Assessment
Total Potential offers a wide range of assessment tools, whether for screening new hires or developing current employees. We will work with your company to identify which assessment(s) will give you the information you need to answer your specific questions (for example, retention issues, honesty/integrity concerns, professional development needs). Each assessment is validated and highly reliable.

You may choose to assess your current employees to create individual development plans and identify training needs, or you may choose to assess prospective hires to identify whether or not they will be a good fit with the job and the company culture.

All of the assessments used by Total Potential are available in paper-pencil, software or convenient web-based delivery options. The online option is extremely user-friendly (no advanced computer skills necessary!) and companies generally find this system of managing the assessments to be the most effective and convenient. Total Potential will work with your company to identify the arrangement that fits your needs.


There are many options for managing the identification and assessment processes. However, regardless of the specific path you take, the overall process will include Total Potential working with you to:

  • Conduct the assessments

Then, we will:

  • Analyze the results
  • Provide recommendations
  • Agree on desired measurable outcomes of any desired changes
